Description:

The Alkalinity Chemical Test Kit-100 contains premium quality, pre-measured reagents, designed to quickly and accurately measure alkalinity using the chemical test kit. These reagents utilize the phenolphthalein/bromophenol blue technique to ascertain the concentration of phenolphthalein and total alkalinity.
In assessing phenolphthalein alkalinity, a dilute solution of hydrochloric acid is used as a titrant to neutralize the sample to approximately 8.3 pH. Addition of phenolphthalein indicator triggers a color change to pink in the solution, signifying it is nearing the pH endpoint. Besides, total alkalinity is also determined using dilute hydrochloric acid as a titrant. The solution turns from yellow to blue or green upon adding bromophenol blue indicator, indicating that the pH endpoint near 4.5 is reached. The alkalinity, expressed in mg/L CaCO3, is determined by the volume of titrant needed to reach the required endpoint. Note that these reagents are specifically crafted for samples expected to have an alkalinity range from 0 to 100 mg/L and 0 to 300 mg/L CaCO3.
