Mycoplasma Test Kits

Background on Mycoplasma Testing

Mycoplasma is the smallest prokaryotic cell type microorganism that has no cell wall, is highly pleomorphic, can pass through a filter, and can be cultured and proliferated with an artificial medium. Its size is 0.1-0.3 microns. Mycoplasma can form filaments and branches, and can live as independent bacteria or parasitize in humans and animals. After the mycoplasma enters the cell culture medium, it can rapidly diffuse and contaminate other areas of the laboratory with the help of aerosols and particles generated during the processing of the culture medium. It has become one of the most common pollutants in the biopharmaceutical industry. Regulatory agencies require that cell cultures used for toxicological analysis, diagnostic kits and therapeutics must be free of mycoplasma.

Mycoplasma Test Kits

The traditional mycoplasma culture method cannot detect live mycoplasma in a non-culturable state, and there is a risk of false negative results. The mycoplasma test kits provide an early detection method for mycoplasma contamination and can detect more than 100+ types of mycoplasma. These kits are fast, highly specific, sensitive, and comply with international standards. Mycoplasma test kits are vital to detect mycoplasma in biologic drugs, vaccines, cell culture media, and virus culture media at various time points in the quality control process.

Advantages of Mycoplasma Test Kits

  • A variety of mycoplasma detection technologies immunofluorescence method, PCR, DNA combined with fluorescein staining method, separation and culture method, etc.) were adopted to develop test kits.
  • High specificity, a single test can cover all mycoplasma species that may infect cells. Based on sequence identity, at least 107 mycoplasma species can be detected. The operation is simple and easy to observe.
  • Using inactivated, non-infectious mycoplasma standards to completely eliminate the risk of contamination. There are corresponding absolute quantitative standards for mycoplasma, which is convenient for final quantitative detection.
  • High sensitivity, the lowest detection limit can reach ≤10 CFU/mL.
  • Using a proprietary microbial identification system to achieve seamless integration from detection to identification.
