Vitamin B12 or B9 (which is also often referred to as folate) are trace elements that belong to a group of vital chelate formers. It is able to form stable complexes that are able to be absorbed through the lower section of the small intestine (along with the intrinsic factor that are present in the gastric juice). The following vitamin B12 ELISA kit offer a more sensitive and quicker procedure for determining quantitative levels of vitamin B12 present in vitaminated food when compare to other conventional microbiological methods.
Vitamin B12 deficiency can result in anemia and many other neurological dysfunction. Mild deficiencies often do not show any discernible symptoms, however, over time these become more significant and can eventually result in anemia. Symptoms of anemia include: light-headedness, fatigue, rapid breathing, weakness and pale coloured skin. The condition of anemia causes the body to produce fewer red blood cells than normal or abnormally low amount of a haemoglobin which ultimately leads to red blood cells unable to function properly. A pernicious anemia can be easily treated by the administration of high dosage of vitamin B12.

Vitamin B12 ELISA kit is designed for detecting quantitative concentration of vitamin B12 (folate) in food. This assay has a minimum analytical sensitivity limit of 0.3 ng/ml.
