Children under six years of age and pregnant women are at the highest risk. Ingesting high copper levels can cause sickness, including vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and headaches. Exposure to high copper levels over a long period can cause kidney damage, liver damage and consumption of extremely high levels of copper can cause death.
