Introduction:

Legionella Testing Kit: Legionella species are the causative agent of the human Legionnaires’ disease and the lesser form, Pontiac fever. Legionella transmission is via aerosols, the inhalation of mist droplets containing the bacteria. Common sources include cooling towers, swimming pools, domestic hot-water systems, fountains, and similar dissemination that tap into a public water supply. Natural sources of Legionella include freshwater ponds and creeks. Once inside a host, incubation may take up to two weeks.

Kit Contents:

The Legionella Test Kit comes with a water sample collection bottle. Use the collection bottle to draw water directly from the test site. When collecting water from a cooling tower, collect a half bottle of water in the bottle, 500 ml. When collecting potable water for testing, collect a full bottle of water, 1000 ml. Once the water is collected in the sterilized screw cap collecting bottles, tightly screw on the cap and use the provided materials to return the sample to the laboratory of analysis.
