For ammonia evaluation, the Nessler reagent is applied under alkaline circumstances to interact with ammonia. The reaction between the mercury-containing reagent and ammonia results in a yellow compound forming; the deeper the color, the greater the concentration. To assist with a precise and comparative visual examination for determining ammonia concentration, a color comparator cube is provided.
