The Acidity Chemical Test Kit Replacement Reagentsare high quality reagents that are pre-measured, enabling users to get quick and precise acid measurements using the chemical testing kit. The reagents are based on the methyl orange/phenolphthalein method for determining the concentration of strong acid/total acid.
The process for ascertaining strong acid, or methyl orange acidity, involves using sodium hydroxide titrant to interact with the acids in the sample. Adding bromophenol blue indicator to the mixture leads to a color change from yellow to green/blue when it hits the pH endpoint around 4.5 pH. The total acid or phenolphthalein acidity is determined using sodium hydroxide as the titrant as well. When the pH endpoint of roughly 8.3 pH is reached, phenolphthalein indicator makes the solution turn pink. The acidity as mg/L CaCO3 is established by the quantity of titrant in milliliters needed to reach the suitable endpoint. These reagents are created for usage with samples having an expected acidity range between 0 and 100 mg/L and 0 to 500 mg/L CaCO3.
